Dubrovnik Musical Spring – symphony orchestra offers two months of concerts

Dubrovnik Musical Spring", the spring concert season of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, begins today and for two full months will bring audiences numerous concerts featuring guest soloists from Dubrovnik, Croatia and abroad.
Spring begins tonight with a performance by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (DSO) under the direction of its conductor Ivan Hut and one of the most outstanding representatives of the younger generation of Croatian clarinetists, Bruno Philipp. The program of this concert will include works by Sorkočević and Beethoven, while the audience will be able to hear the soloist in Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major. The concert will be held in the church of the Little Brothers starting at 8:30 p.m.
The musical spring will continue with a recital by violinist Loris Grubišić and pianist Jadranka Garin in Saloča od žrjela on Monday, April 24. These distinguished musicians will perform works by Tartini, Mozart, Franck and Split composer Vlado Sunko.
One of the most talented European conductors, Valentin Egel, will be a guest in Dubrovnik, who will conduct the orchestra at the concert on April 27, while the audience at this concert will hear Haydn's Concerto for Horn and Orchestra No. 2 in D major, the first horn of the DSO, Toni Courser.
At the beginning of May, the concerts in the atrium of the Rector’s Palace will begin, and for the first concert of the year in the Palace, which will be held on May 4, we expect the performance of the bassoonist Matija Novaković with the DSO under the direction of Ivan Hut. In the continuation of the spring concert season, there are performances by the String Quartet of the DSO and the soprano Marija Kuhar Šoša, then a concert by young musicians from the area of the county, an entire cycle dedicated to the great Ludwig van Beethoven called the Beethoven piano cycle, which consists of three concerts by the respected pianist Đura Tikvice with DSO and conductors Uroš Lajović and Ivan Huto.
The evening of May 20 will be dedicated to tango, when cellist Vid Veljak will perform with the Brass & Percussion ensemble of the DSO. The arrangements for this interesting musical evening are arranged by Damir Butigan.
June will be ushered in with the music of Dubravko Detoni and Georges Bizet. On June 1, the orchestra will perform Detoni's "Transformations", "Forgotten Music", "Music a cinque for Strings", and "Piano Quintet and String Quartet", where the DSO members will be joined by pianist Danijel Detoni. The concert will be conducted by maestro Ivan Hut.
On June 6, fans of Spanish music will be able to enjoy the works of E. Granados, I. Albéniz and J. Malats, performed by the young guitar virtuoso Zlatko Josip Grgić, whom the Spanish called the "Torres Whisperer".
In June, it will be possible to listen to DSO's concert master Đana Kahriman with the orchestra and maestro Pavlo Zajcev. Afterwards, Split virtuosos and pianist Vesna Podrug are guests in the city, followed by an extremely interesting program called "From Baroque to Rumba" performed by Zoltan Hornyanszki and István Römer; then violinist Dan Zhu with the orchestra will bring the eight seasons (Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires), while the Dubrovnik musical spring will conclude with the String Quartet of the DSO, our renowned cellist, Monika Leskovar, on June 20.
The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra is organizing two months of top musical events for citizens and guests with the support of the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the Croatian Tourist Board.
