India Week in Dubrovnik – celebration of all things Indian

With a rich program in Lazareti, Lađa 5 and 6 - FA Linđo and the Sloboda cinema, the international cultural program "India Week in Dubrovnik" begins, which from February 20 to 26 will present culture, customs, conversations, costumes and gastronomy inspired by India.
This unique week of India in Dubrovnik is organized with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Exchange (ICCR), the Croatian-Indian Friendship Society Dubrovnik, the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Heritage, Cinema Dubrovnik and the Embassy of India in Zagreb.
The opening of the event is on Monday, February 20, starting at 7:00 p.m. in Lazareti, Lađa 5, with a cultural and musical program called "Conversations about India". The program will be attended by Swami Vivek Puri, leader of the Yoga in Everyday Life system, who will give a lecture entitled "Sanatan Dharma Blueprint of the Universe". Then follows the performance of Goran Karan with the motto "India has a special place in my heart".
From Monday to Friday, that is, from February 20 to 24, between 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., food lovers will have the opportunity to taste Indian dishes prepared in the vegan restaurant Nishta, Prijeko bb.
The Indian week continues on Tuesday, February 21, at 6 p.m. in Lazareti, with a lecture "What is yoga and what is its purpose - Introductory lecture on the path and history of yoga", which will be held by Marija Grgurević from the holistic fitness studio Elixir Vitae Studio. This will be followed by the lecture "Purpose and practical benefits of meditation for everyday life" by Zdravko Baselli from TM Centre Dubrovnik starting at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, February 23, citizens are invited to the workshop "Yoga practice - who, how and why?", which will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the premises of the OKEY yoga studio, Donje Obuljeno 38, Mokošica, while on Friday at 5:00 p.m. studio Buddha's cat, Uz Posat 9, will hold a yoga workshop.
The spectacular contemporary dance ensemble Bhoomika from India will present an opus of its own contemporary and traditional Indian dances whose history goes back 50 years. The performance will take place on Wednesday, February 22, starting at 7:00 p.m. in Lazareti, Lađa 5 and 6 - by the Linđo Folklore Ensemble, under the auspices of ICCR. Bhoomika Creative Dance Centre is a national performing arts organization that has been at the forefront of bringing a new spirit to Indian dance since its inception in 1972. Started by a group of progressive artists, the centre has evolved into a dance company known for its innovative and experimental choreography that has attracted critical attention at many renowned festivals in India and abroad.
On Thursday, February 23, starting at 7:00 p.m., the historian and music critic from Split, Ph.D. Tonči Šitin, will give a lecture on Rabindranath Tagore entitled "All my life I have been looking for you in my poems". Then the famous alpinist Stipe Božić will give a lecture entitled "Himalayas - the sacred gardens of India", about his encounters with the sacred peaks of the Himalayas.
From February 24 to 26, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Republic of Croatia, the "Cycle of Indian Films" will be held at the Sloboda cinema, which will feature five award-winning Indian films made in the past decade.
